PLANNING:11TH FEB 2012

Me, Amy and Jessie are beginning to feel a bit stuck about what our fantasy film storyline could be. To overcome this we thought it would be a good idea to all gather at someone’s house and develop our ideas of our storyline. We used web 2.0 technology; Twitter to confirm our meeting.

We decided to explore two different ideas and see what our target audience liked best, these are our two ideas:

Our first idea we thought about using the location of either mine or Amy’s attic. We ruled out Jessie’s house because we already knew that being in her attic would not be safe and you can’t stand up in it making it unable to film in. We decided to take pictures of the different attic locations so we could see which one would be most suitable. Controlling these locations would be easy as we are able to tell other family members to not disturb us. The attic is the main location but we also need another location for the girl to appear in, this is where we decided to use the end of Jessie’s drive. It is an overgrown pond with an island in the middle which is easily accessible (whenever it hasn’t rained).

START:  (BASIC STORYLINE) IDEA 1

1.Girl trying to find something in an attic
2.comes across a chest, opens it and finds a letter
3.she reads it and it is from an old relative
4. It reads something creepy ‘hope you have fun’ – magical?
5. She finds something in the box old pair of glasses?
6. Puts the glasses on and then transports to a forest? – Fantasy element.

Our second idea is similar to the first one but we feel is a bit random and may appeal to a younger audience instead of a wide range of ages which we are intending to do.  It may be quite difficult to film especially the beginning flash back part.

START: (BASIC STORYLINE) IDEA 2

1.Girl asleep and starts to have a flash back – remembers that her essay is due in today (school scene teacher telling class to remember)
2.suddenly she rushes around her room to get ready for school and find her essay
3. Whilst frantically getting ready she comes across a letter from an old relative
4.she reads the note and it says a creepy spell? (Magical spell)
5. The spell she reads sends her back in time/transport to another location Forest? – Fantasy element.
We asked a range of people which idea they liked best.
AGE
GENDER
PREFFERED IDEA AND REASON
16
Male
1, it seems more fantasy like and less like a ‘chic-flick’. I would want to watch the rest of the film.
21
Female
1, seems more intriguing and realistic
50
Male
1, It seems less like a chic-flick genre of film
13
Female
2, I like them both as they both seem exciting but I prefer 2 as it includes magic.
17
Female
1, I like the fact of time travel which I find interesting and I like how it can appeal to all ages.
16
Female
1, I think that the special effects would be hard to achieve in the 2nd idea, therefore I prefer the first idea better. I also like the idea of time travel and magic.

Asking our target audience has confirmed which idea we want to take forward and film.
